Il Radwerk IV nel Vordenberg/ Stiria/ Austria è l’unico altoforno a carbone meglio conservato al mondo. Costruito nel 1846, è stato attivo fino al 1911. Dal 1959 apre come museo altoforno per la produzione di ferro. Nei quattro piani dell’edificio sono mostrate le condizioni lavorative e di vita di quel periodo. La grande ruota idraulica è ancora attiva. Il Radwerk IV è situato al centro della via del ferro stiriana, che offre diversi importanti monumenti storici e la più grande superficie mineraria di ferro nel centro Europa.
The Radwerk IV in Vordernberg/Styria/Austria is worldwide the only originally preserved charcoal blast furnace. Built in the year 1846, it was in operation until 1911. Since 1959 it is open as blast furnace and iron making museum. On four platforms the process of ironmaking and as well the working and living conditions at that times are shown. The big water wheel is still in operation. The Radwerk IV is situated in the midst of Steirische Eisenstrasse which offers several important historical monuments and the biggest surface iron mining in Central Europe.
