Casa con torrettaCostruito fra il 1618 e il 1638, questo edificio era composto da una ferriera bergamasca e un distendino azionati dalle acque della gora. Quando nel 1817 furono consegnate alla Regia mista, si trovavano in completa rovina. Una squadra nutrita di muratori lavorò intensamente sulla “ferriera diroccata” per tutta la campagna 1819-1820, con una ingente spesa.
In seguito ferriera e distendino furono spenti più volte nelle stagioni di siccità, quando la portata d’acqua che giungeva da Massa Marittima era insufficiente per il Forno di San Ferdinando e per questi due impianti. Verso il 1844, dopo la costruzione della “ferriera alla contese”, i due impianti furono abbandonati definitivamente.
Casa TorrettaThis building was built in 1618-1638 and it was composed of a bergamasque foundry and a distend driven by the river waters. In 1817, when this building was given to the Regia mista, it was completely ruined. A large team of bricklayers worked hard on the “crumbling foundry” throughout the 1819-1820 campaign with high costs.
Later the foundry and distend were shut down several times in dry seasons, when the water flow from Massa Marittima was not enough for the Saint Ferdinand furnace and these two systems.
Toward the 1844, after the building of the contese foundry, the two systems were definitively abandoned.
